EmPower+ (New York)

The NYSERDA EmPower+ program in New York State is available to income-qualified households and offers significant rebates based on two different income tiers:

Tier 1: Up to $20,000 worth of home improvements for free
Tier 2: Up to $5,000 worth of home improvement work, free energy assessment, and low-interest loans

Comfort Home Program

Also available in New York State is the NYSERDA Comfort Home Program, which is available for households at any income level in three different tiers:

Good—Free energy assessment, $2,500 off insulation and air sealing in attic and rim joist
Better—$3,000 off everything in Good Tier plus insulation and air sealing in floors and walls
Add on $2,000 off everything in Better Tier is complete and ENERGY STAR window replacements are installed

The Insulation Tax Credit

The Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit is a federal tax credit equaling 30% of the total cost for a variety of energy efficiency home upgrades, including qualifying insulation and air sealing expenses. There is an annual maximum credit of $1,200 for the category of upgrades that includes insulation.

Available to anyone with federal tax liability
Can be combined with other incentives and insulation rebates
$150 credit for energy audits
Can be claimed in multiple years (but not for the same upgrade)
